Unfortunately Roger has had to retire from The Ugly Dog Skiffle Combo after five years with the band due to ill health. We're really sorry to see him go. During his time with the band, Roger played Ukelele then Drums (and Skiffle tree!) and settled on Washboard.

We have recently re-acquired Steve Medler on the double bass back into the band. Steve played for us a few years back and we had great fun. Steve left after he found he didn't have enough time to incorporate his music and work into his busy schedule but now has a bit more time on his hands and we're really chuffed to have him back ... and the girls love him, what can I say!

The Ugly Dog Skiffle Combo have just recorded a session at Western Star Studio in Somerset for two forthcoming CD releases are now available to sample on our Skiffle Jukebox page. The band recorded 4 skiffle classics...
'Freight Train' - the Chas McDevitt and Nancy Whiskey skiffle classic.
'Lost John' - Lonnie Donnegan skiffle song about an outlaw on the run given an Ugly Dog Skiffle Combo transformation!
'Six Five Special' - The theme tune from the TV music show of the same name recorded originally by Don Lang and his Frantic Five.
'Jesse James' - Classic old American folklore tune about the legendary wild west outlaw covered by many skiffle heros!

We have just lost both Clive Perchard and Jonny Griffiths from the band. Clive has had to give up his duties on Double Bass because of his new employment working onthe Norfolk Broads which stops him being available at the weekends. Jonny has had to put his fiddle away to make time for the course he starts in 2010 at the UEA in Norwich. We wish them both all the best in their new ventures and they will be sorely missed from the band.

Thanks to Brian Toovey we now have some great photos of this years Sheringham area gigs. The North Norfolk Beer festival at Sheringham Railway Station, The Weybourne Beer Train, The Sheringham Crown Inn and the Sheringham Carnival Fireworks procession along with some extra photos of the 2006 North Norfolk Beer festival. We have all 3 of our videos coming out this summer on a new DVD from Western Star. A new recording by The Ugly Dog Skiffle Combo is the title track of a new compilation of Elvis covers out later this year ( Frankfurt Special ) and a recording from our first album should be featured on a new compilation later this year too. Watch this space.
Add to that a busy schedule through the summer of festivals and such like and things are looking good!
